My Stitching World

Upon realizing that I hadn't posted in a few months, I decided to come to terms with my erratic blogging. I often have the intention of blogging, but after spending all day at work on the computer, I don't feel like spending most of the evening on the computer; on the weekends, I don't feel like doing something that resembles work!

So I'm going to be okay with only posting a handful of times per year. I hope you'll still stick around to read my fascinating adventures!

I definitely need to do a stitching update and also a post on our October trip to Jordan. To get back into the swing of things, I've stolen this stitching questionnaire from Stitch Bitch. I enjoy reading about others' stitching preferences, and I hope you enjoy reading about mine!

1) Which fabric do you most prefer? Evenweave & aida. I stitch on linen, but I don't enjoy it.

2) What is your favorite fabric count? 28 on evenweave; 16 & 18 on aida; 22 & 25 for handanger

3) What colour fabric do you most enjoy stitching on? I usually stitch on neutrals, but I enjoy everything except black (even with a white towel on my lap)!

4) What is your favorite fibre? Most definitely silk!

5) How many of the 450 DMC Colours do you own? All of them, I believe, with exception of the newly released colors (Are they worth the money?).

6) Of your last five projects—how many used DMC/Anchor as the main floss? Three

7) Of the last five projects, if you didn’t use DMC/Anchor—what did you use? Crescent Colours, Carrie's Creation silk, Weeks Dye Works, Gentle Art Sampler Thread, Thread Gatherer Silk N Colors

8) What needles do you prefer? Petite, size 26 or 28. I generally use John James needles.

9) What is the ugliest design you’ve encountered? I can't think of an ugliest, but it would have to be something like this:

10) What is the most beautiful design you’ve encountered? There, of course, are many, but I would love to stitch Moss Garden Mandela by Chatelaine.

11) Who is your favourite designer? Textile Heritage will always hold a special place in my heart because their kits are what got me into cross stitch, and their Bluebird felt pin cushion was the first project I ever did.

12) Least favourite designer? I don't have one, but I'm definitely not in to primitive designs.

13) Will you/would you support a designer whose personal beliefs offended/angered you? Depends- if it were something like religious beliefs, I don't think it would influence me; however, if it were something racist or sexist, for example, I could see that influencing my decision to give money to that person. Fortunately, I've never had this issue. :)

14) Do you have a lamp especially made for needleworkers? A travel Ott Lite

15) What brand of stitching lamp do you have/prefer? I prefer the Ott Lite that the cat broke, which sat on a side table. It was too heavy to travel with, though.

16) What kind of environment best suits you when you are stitching? Quiet & comfy with natural light

17) Have you stitched any design more than once? Yes, Chillin' Out & French Country Baby Carriage

18) Favourite design you have stitched and finished? "L" in the Letters from Nora series

19) Least favourite design you’ve stitched and finished? Hang On Kitty- the backstitching!

20) Last, but not least, what’s your longest running WIP? Cat biscornu. I've finally made it to the backside, but I just can't force myself to finish it

There you have it, folks- a little insight into my stitching world!
